Article 8 – George Bush Administration trying to hide Global Warming?

Nasa and Hansen

Hansen is a guy who works for Nasa who has given his expert opinion to many Newspapers.  Everytime Mr.Hansen speaks to the Newspaper, the Newspaper treats his words like Gold. When he announced that 1998 was the warmest year on record, it was on the front page of the Newspaper. But the only thing is, NASA’s facts were wrong, and they were proven wrong by the Bush Administration.

And now you’re wondering, how does this have anything to do with HIDING Global Warming? This shows thats the Bush Administration took Global Warming into some kind of consideration, but at the same time, they never signed the Kyoto Protocal. This makes me wonder why Mr.Bush would even try to prove an expert wrong (even though Mr.Bush was right). While he took the time to try to prove the expert wrong, he could have signed the Kyoto Protocal and made a movement towards solving Global warming.

Article 7 – Global Warming equal to Nuclear War?

Global climate change defies forecasting.

Unpredicted heat, floods, droughts and typhoons Caused by climate changee cause unbelievable damage.  There are many different opinions of experts on Global Warming. Some believe that the world has nothing to worry about, that climate changes are normal. Some people believe that we are so scared because of lack of Knowledge. While others believe the major climate changes are no different than a nuclear war. It states that there is no way we can hide from global warming. I believe that statement is true because the atmosphere is all around us, everywhere in the world.

Experts and their Contact information

Chris Horner

Chris Horner would be a good expert to interview because he is a Lawyer in Washington D.C where his job is to speak to industries and academic crowds. Now you ask, how does this qualifty him to be a Global Warming expert? He works with the laws of Global Warming on which would be legal to do and not legal to do. Mr.Horner has also been studying and working with the Kyoto Protocal, trying to get the United States to sign the document.

You can contact Mr.Horner @ chorner@cei.org

Kenneth Chilton

I think Mr.Chilton would be a good expert to interview because all of his life he heas been studying the invironment and economy. Mr.Chilton is Professor of Management at Lindenwood University and Director of the Institute for Study of Economics and the Environment.

You can contact Mr.Chilton @ Kchilton@lindenwood.edu

Introduction & Title

My title would be – The Heated Atmosphere
I would make my title The Heated Atmosphere because each year the wheather conditions get worse. Each summer gets hotter and hotter and each Spring our storms get worse and worse. So I think The Heated Atmosphere would be a perfect title for our project.

Introducion – I think our introduction should be opened with with a black background and in red letters it should say “Global Warming” and then it fades away, and “effects” Should fade in, then fade away. Then our film should start rolling.. After the film is done, I think the black background should come back, and in red letters it should say everyone who was involved and their rolls.

I think that will be affective because red and black letters kind of have a cool look to it, and when “Global Warming” pops up, then fades away, its better than just saying “Global Warming Effects.” That kind of gets the people interested, interested enough to watch the rest of the film. I think good music would be important to. Good music for this introduction should me energizing, not boring and slow.

Article -UN pannels opinion

United Nations Pannels opinion

According to the U.N. panel of scientists, enough carbon dioxide has already built up that it imperils islands, coastlines and a fifth to two-thirds of the world’s species.  This is basically stating that Global Warming is ruining coastlines and making them erode slowly. Scientists state as early as 2020, 75 million-250 million people in Africa will suffer water shortages, and residents of Asia’s large cities will be at great risk of river and coastal flooding.

I found this website to be very knowledgable and resourceful and reliable, thats why I like it.

Article – Climate Change and the Forest

Climate Change and the Forest

In this article it explains how Global Warming affects the climate and forest’s. Each year Global Warming gets worse, affecting the climate by raising temperatures and making wheather more extreme. In the Amazon, it explains how drought is not rare because rain hardly ever comes. As Global Warming gets worse, rain becomes more scarce. If rain becomes more scarce, then plants and wildlife will eventually, slowly, die out. This happens because as Global Warming gets worse, rain becomes more scarce, making water a main issue because both wildlife and plants need water to survive.

Solving Global Warming

Solving Global Warming In The United States

First of all, the first thing I noticed in one of these paragraphs is it states “Starting off with the united states is a good start, but it has to be more than just the united states.” This is important because basically its saying, yeah, we can make a difference if we want, but we have to all work together to fix this ecenomical world problem. In one of the paragraphs it states that the most important thing for the new president to focus on is Global Warming and climate Changes. I would have to disagree with this. I disagree because our biggest problem at the moment is the war on terrorism. But beyond the war, I would think that Global Warming is our second biggest problem.

The affects on the Arctics

Each year the temperatures are rising in the world. The arcticts are affected majorly by the rising temperatures.  As you may know, the arctics are mostly ice, and ice has to stay at a cold temperature at 31 degrees before it starts to melt. The major affects of Global Warming is retreating sea ice, melting glaciers, thawing  permafrost, increasing coastal erosion, and shifting vegetation zones.

1800s – The CO2 in the atmosphere is about 290 parts per million (ppm)

1824- Mathematician and physicist Joseph Fourier discovers that atmospheric gases might increase the Earth’s surface temperature, called the greenhouse effect.

1896- Swedish scientist Svante Arrhenius explains his theory that doubling the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere might raise the earth’s temperature by 5 or 6 degrees Celsius.

1930s- Scientists start to notice that the earths temperature is slowly rising each year.

1938- Guy Callendar suggests the greenhouse affect is the cause of Global Warming. Others greatly dismiss the suggestion.

1957- Oceanographer Roger Revelle reveals that the oceans cannot absorb all of the CO2

1971- The Mariner 9 spacecraft around Mars observes an example of global climate change through a massive dust storm that warms the surface because of the dust’s absorption of solar radiation.

2000- Lobbyists start realizing that Globam Warming is Real and a serious issue

2008- Delegates from 16 nations gather in Hawaii to discuss climate change. The conference ends without a concrete plan to slash greenhouse gas emissions.

2. Al Gore Announces Anti-GW efforts.

Al Gore launched a multi-million dollar campaign calling for the united states to reduce its Greenhouse Gas Emmissions. “We’re trying to get a movement happening to switch public opinion so that our leaders feel, ‘Wow! We really need to make this a top priority issue,’” alliance CEO Cathy Zoi told The Associated Press. Gingrich spokesman Rick Tyler said the former congressman is participating because he agrees on the need for a bipartisan approach to climate change. In Gingrich’s new book, “A Contract with the Earth,” he says that conservatives are natural environmentalists.
